Amy Klobuchar Ducks Senate Forum on the Issues
Klobuchar Declines to Defend Her Tax Increase Agenda

Mark speaking with Seniors in Browerville

St. Paul, Apr 13 - Today, U.S. Senate candidates Mark Kennedy and Ford Bell spoke at the Minnesota Venture Capital Association’s (MVCA) “2006 Senatorial Race: Perspectives on New Company Growth in Minnesota” Forum. Noticeably absent from the discussion was Democrat Amy Klobuchar.

“Amy Klobuchar’s absence from today’s forum is yet another example of her refusal to speak honestly with Minnesotans about important issues like creating good jobs in Minnesota, or defending the issue positions she has taken.

“Though evasive on many issues, one area where Amy Klobuchar has been outspoken is her plan to raise taxes on Minnesota small businesses and families. She has called for the largest tax increase in U.S. history, putting at risk thousands of jobs and family budgets across Minnesota.

“In addition, Ms. Klobuchar has called for a trillion dollar-plus government run health care plan that her $900 billion tax increase would cover only partially. What other taxes would she raise in order to pay for her health care proposal?

“Her duties as Hennepin County Attorney don’t usually intrude on Ms. Klobuchar’s campaign activities, so it’s disappointing that she didn’t find this Senate candidate forum worthy of her attendance. Has Ms. Klobuchar finally realized that her proposal for the largest tax increase in history would hurt Minnesota families and small businesses and can’t or won’t defend it?”
