Energy

We pay the price for America’s overwhelming dependence on foreign sources of oil every time we fill up at the gas station or pay our gas bill. That’s why it is critical that we look right here at home for alternative sources of energy and promote conservation.

The House-passed Energy Policy Act of 2005 uses a two-pronged approach of conservation and innovation to solve energy problems currently facing America. Investing in renewable energy sources like wind and solar energy through tax credits and domestic energy sources like ethanol and biodiesel will not only reduce our dependence on foreign oil but are friendlier to the environment.

Ethanol and biodiesel are created right here in Minnesota from corn and soybean’s, resulting in hundreds of good paying jobs in addition to creating more demand for our farmers’ products. By increasing ethanol and biodiesel use across the country and the globe, Minnesota can lead the way in producing and creating alternative sources of energy.

We’re moving in the right direction with our energy policies. I believe we can create a win-win situation for Minnesotans by researching and developing alternative sources of energy to lower costs and at the same time create good paying jobs right here at home.
